For more than 1000 years (1450 BC to 430 BC), God had been speaking to His people (the Israelites) and had been pleading with them through the prophets to follow Him! God desired that their hearts be true to Him. However, time and time again, He was forced to send judgment their way in order to get their attention.

Then, without warning, after God gives a warning through the prophet Malachi about the coming of Elijah and the great Day of the Lord, the voice of the Lord goes SILENT! For more than 400 years, no prophets have a word from God; no one stands and proclaims, "Thus says the Lord."
